For those of you stuck at home during the pandemic (all of us) I found myself working on a lot of projects to keep the home running.

Since I could not find anything on how to fix an OH error on a hot tub I thought I would post a how to on what I did to repair the PCB board.

First off if your key pad on the hot tub shows oh or OH it means you should not be in there. (over heating error)

Shut the power off and disconnect the incoming power lines to be safe. I attached a picture of the burnt relay that happened to be the culprit. See below:

Burnt Relay on PCB

Once you have identified the problem I googled the part number and Amazon had it in stock. About 10 dollars later it was on its way: for me it was: Balboa T-90 Type Relay SPST 15VDC 30A AZ2120-1A-15DF

I know it worked because the hot tub is functioning just fine as we speak.

Balboa Circuit board PN was 51598

Tips and tricks: always remove the part first and leave as much pin as you can on a through hole device.

Back side of board where part was removed

This has a large heavy cooper trace and it is hard to get enough heat on it to remove. Pulling the pin with needle nose did the trick after applying heat for a long time. Cleaning up with a solder wick after was also challenging. This took me about an hour to complete.
